There are several anatomical goals of a cheeklift. One must correct the effects of mid-facial changes due to age: - descent (downward movement) of the cheek fat
- gradual sagging of the cheek skin
- gradual sagging of the cheek skin
- hollowing of the infraorbital region, where the lower eyelid and cheek meet
- exaggeration of the nasolabial folds; this is referred to as the groove running from the corner of the nose to the side of the mouth
